Our Philosophy
Science-based Training?
There's more than one method of dog training. At Calling All Dogs, we use positive reinforcement methods only. This means the emphasis is on humanely teaching our dogs—with patience and fairness—exactly what we want from them. There is no yelling or abuse of any kind. When training, we will never use fear, pain, intimidation, or discomfort. We will also never use instruments that cause your dog to feel this way or cause physiological damage, including shock collars, prong (or pinch) collars, choke chains, whips, or chains. We want our dogs to enjoy the training process and, in turn, learn quickly and retain their knowledge.
Positive reinforcement training is not new; animal trainers have been using it successfully for over 100 years. More recently, it has moved to the forefront in the dog-training world and has changed the field of dog training from punishment and dominance-theory based to lure-reward based. Positive reinforcement training is state-of-the-art training; it is scientifically proven to work and preferred by animal behaviorists all over the world.
Our three trainers, with over 25 years experience between them, are each nationally certified by the CPDT, the largest training organization in the world. They travel around the country attending lectures, seminars, workshops, etc. to continue their training and keep abreast of the latest methods in behavior modification. In addition, working together every day allows them to share ideas and learn from each other.
What does this mean for your dog?
Many outdated methods are still available locally, including force, dominance, or even pain. These methods are not only dangerous—they have been proven ineffective. By using methods that are scientifically sound, you will see faster, long-lasting results and won't damage the relationship you have with your dog.
It's really simple. Dogs are opportunistic by nature. When you train using science-based training, your dog is going to work for you because good things happen when they do. You do have a choice. So make the best one for your dog. Calling All Dogs...it works and it's a blast!
