Classes We Offer
Puppy Prep

Includes puppy playtime and teaching some basic obedience commands using positive reinforcement. We show you how to control your puppy's behaviors, including play-biting, jumping, chewing, and housetraining. Safe and appropriate toys, chews, and nutrition are also covered. Class is limited to eight puppies. Class is six weeks. Prerequisites: Puppies must be less than 18 weeks at the start of class and have had their first DAPP vaccinations.
Wonder Pups

Ready to take your puppy's training to the next level? This fun fast-paced continuation of our beginning Puppy Prep expands your puppy's obedience and socialization skills and more emphasis is placed on obedience commands. Puppies attending all six classes will be eligible to enroll in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Puppy test will be administered at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, your puppy will receive the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Medal from the AKC. Class is six weeks. Prerequisites: Graduation from Puppy Prep.
Mom & Tot

Are your hands full with a toddler and a dog? Do you feel like you have two toddlers in the house? This six-week class will teach you how to work with your dog on impulse control and basic manners in the presence of a toddler. In addition, we will also help teach your toddler how to behave appropriately with your dog and recommend fun games that are safe and appropriate to play with their four-footed friend. Class is six weeks.
All in the Family

Fun for the whole family, this basic training course is geared toward teaching the whole family how to train your dog. Training is most effective if everyone in the household is on board. Children of all ages are welcome to come to this class. (Please see our policy on children in the classroom.) Class is six weeks.
C.H.A.R.M School

(Changing Habits and Reinforcing Manners) For dogs with no previous formal training or who could use a brush-up on some good manners! This course involves learning all the basic commands necessary for a well-trained dog. We will also show you the most effective way to help change those unwanted behaviors (jumping, barking, pulling on the leash...) as well as other valuable handling techniques. Class is six weeks.
More C.H.A.R.Ming

This course is offered to dogs who have completed a basic manners course but may need a little more work on distance, duration, and distraction. This class is four weeks and will prepare your dog for the intermediate class and CGC testing. Prerequisite: Previous obedience or basic manners class.
Petite Pals

For dogs under 25 pounds with no previous formal training or just needing to learn some good manners. This course is similar to our C.H.A.R.M. School but with particular emphasis on "small dog personalities." We will show you the most effective ways to teach your little dog in a setting where they are comfortable and possibly one of the biggest dogs in the room! Class is six weeks.
Prestigious Pooch

This class prepares your dog for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. The CGC test is awarded by the AKC and open to all dogs—purebred and mix breeds. Upon graduation from this class, dogs will be eligible for testing for the Canine Good Citizen certification. You can have the "model dog"...and the papers to prove it. Class is six weeks. Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent. Cost of class includes the official test.
Clicks & Tricks

This course allows you to continue your training with fun and exciting tricks. You and your classmates will decide the agenda. The class is designed so that you can go at your dog's speed, and everyone has fun and is successful. Since this involves some off-leash work, dogs must be friendly and non-reactive to other dogs. Class is four weeks. Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent and must know how to use a clicker!
More Clicks & Tricks

This course allows you and your pup to continue with Clicks and Tricks. Tricks are more advanced and more amazing. You and your dog will dazzle and wow your friends. Since this class involves some off-leash work, dogs must be friendly and non-reactive to other dogs. Class is four weeks. Prerequisite: Clicks and Tricks.

It's finally here—the training cue that most people struggle with! This class is designed to specifically address your dog's recall. Class is four weeks and focuses specifically on off-leash recalls. Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent.
Walk This Way

A course to perfect leash walking. Walks should be fun for both of you. If walking your dog is a daily struggle that you have come to dread...come to this class! Class is four weeks. Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent.
Nail Trimming

Does a simple nail trim with your dog include wrestling, screaming, restraining, or even a trip to a professional for help? Wouldn't it be nice to have a dog that willingly presented their nails for trimming and sat patiently while you did them? We'll show you how to achieve that in this practical, hands-on, four-week class.
Focus!

Looking for more focus from your dog? Or maybe you've considered getting involved in a dog sport? Did you know before your dog can learn any sport, you must first have stellar communication and attention with your dog? This class helps you gain undivided attention from your dog and GREAT behavior on- and off-leash! **Please Note: Class is six weeks.** Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent before you can join a Focus class.
Rally-O
This fun and exciting dog sport can be for anyone who likes to have fun with their dog! Rally Obedience includes learning how to maneuver through a course, learning new cues for you and your dog, and doing it all as fast as possible! Class is six weeks. Prerequisite: C.H.A.R.M School or equivalent.Shy Dog

Some dogs struggle with a fast-paced, high-energy class or simply aren't comfortable around too many other people or dogs—this is the class for them! This class is limited to four socially shy dogs. We will address some basic manners, but will focus mostly on how to help your dog become more comfortable in new situations as well as confidence building. Class is six weeks.
Freestyle
In Canine Musical Freestyle, the dog and handler perform choreographed moves to music. Freestyle is a fun sport for dog and handler, a great way to build a relationship with your young dogs, and a wonderful way to keep your older dogs physically and mentally active. Class is six weeks.Sampler Class
Can't decide which class you want to do with your dog, want a small taste of everything, or just want to have a BLAST with your dog? Come get a little sample of everything! This four-week class includes lessons from the following: Clicks and Tricks, Canine Musical Freestyle, Games People and Dogs Play, Rally-O, and more!Doga
The first of it's kind in Utah—come join others in a unique setting for both you and your dog. This class will include breathing exercises, some light massage for your pup, and simple yoga poses that have been modified to help bring you and your pup together.Puppy Play Time

We all know how important it is to get your puppy out and socialize. But did you know that it is not only how much you get them out, but also what type of socialization they get? Bring your puppy to a safe environment that is overseen by an instructor well versed in body language and appropriate play to ensure your puppy gets the BEST possible experience! **Please Note: This class is held on a recurring basis and certain requirements must be met; no intimidation of any kind is used, including body blocking or whips.**
Anti-Jump! Party

Join us with your dog for a fun–filled hour of teaching dogs not to jump. We'll have refreshments and lots of good social interaction. This is a great way to teach your dog that humans really do NOT love dogs jumping on them! Call for information.
Fiesty Fido

If you have a dog that likes people but hates dogs? Welcome to our Feisty Fido class. In this class, we work on behavior modification to teach dogs to be okay with other dogs around. This "counter-conditioning and desensitization" approach works best to change the way your dog feels about seeing other dogs; instead of punishing him for reacting inappropriately. Great results! Out & About
If you've already been through our C.H.A.R.M. School or equivalent PR Basic Manners class, and your dog is social around other dogs and people, then you are ready for stepping Out & About. This is a six–week course that meets once–a–week at a different location outdoors (and you get to chose where). Now that you've got all those good behaviors you learned in class you can take them on the road, under the close supervision of our C.A.D. trainers.

The following classes are held at the Humane Society, 4200 S 300 W, in Murray.
Foundation Obedience for Puppies
For newly rescued healthy puppies under five months of age with two sets of vaccinations.
It's important for your new pup to learn proper socialization skills with other dogs as well as with humans. We will teach some basic obedience commands and show the best way to handle unwanted behaviors such as jumping up, improper chewing, house soiling and other issues you may have. This is a four–week course is held at the Humane Society of Utah for rescue dogs only.
Foundation Obedience
For newly rescued fully immunized non–aggressive dogs six months or older.
While we do teach some basic commands: sit / down / come / stay / leave it, etc. our main focus will be working through the issues of each dog in class. Whether it's jumping up on people, counter surfing, pulling on the leash, mouthing, barking, etc., we will work with you to eliminate these behaviors. Our goal is to keep these newly adopted dogs in their new homes by teaching them good manners! This is a four–week course for rescue dogs only.
